Community Roundup

At the Community Roundup open house September 23rd, the new proposed zoning map was released for public review. The corresponding Place Type zoning standards were also available for review. The Landmark Inn welcomed Castroville stakeholders from 3:30pm to 8pm to view the new draft zoning map and discuss the applicability and implications of the Place Type zoning standards. About 40 people attended, including the St Louis Cathedral Church Board Members to discuss the future of Houston Square.

The proposed new zoning map, and Place Type zoning standards are available for review on the Share Your Input page.

Here you're able to:

  • Find your property on the map and evaluate the town zoning overall.
  • Review the Place Type zoning specifications, signage specifications, and street type alignments that will all become part of the Unified Development Ordinance.
  • Submit your insights to improve the map & Place Type standards.
  • Submit a request to change your property's Place Type.
  • All maps and zoning standards will remain open for public comment throughout October. Spread the word!

The Building Block Project includes an update to the Comprehensive Plan, Downtown Plan, and Unified Development Ordinance. These draft zoning specifications, signage specifications, and street type alignments will all become part of the Unified Development Ordinance.

Stay tuned for the Draft Comprehensive Plan, Downtown Masterplan, and Unified Development Code documents to be posted online for public review this Fall, before heading to Plan Commission and Council.
